Why You Should Learn More About African Music

When you look up the word music, what comes to your mind? Do you think of Mozart's "Requiem" or the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever"? Or do you think of the blues or rock n' roll? What about rap? Or hip-hop? Or even country music?

But what about African music?

What exactly is African music? It can be defined as the music of the African people. But it can also refer to the music of any region with African influence.

African music has been influenced by many different cultures over time. For example, the music of the Yoruba people in Nigeria is heavily influenced by the Islamic culture. African music has also been influenced by many other cultures. For example, the music from South Africa is influenced by the Dutch culture. The music from West Africa is influenced by the Arab culture. And the music from Central Africa is influenced by the Chinese culture.

In fact, the music from each of these regions is so distinct from the others that it can be considered its own genre. For example, the music in West Africa is often referred to as "Afro-Fusion." This means that the music has taken elements from the various African cultures and blended them into a new style.

Another term that is sometimes used for this type of music is "world music." This term was originally used to describe the music of India and other Asian countries. However, it has now come to mean any music from any part of the world that has an African influence.

But why is it important to know about African music? There are several reasons for learning more about this type of music.

First of all, it is important to learn about this music because it is so diverse. Even though African music has been influenced by other cultures, it has also developed in its own unique way.
