Cute Baby Elephant Orphans Raised By British Students

COMM: For an abandoned elephant calf the world can be a scary place. But lucky for Fiela, an eight-week-old orphan, These British elephant nannies are providing round-the-clock care. COMM: Abigail Hearn, Melissa Dora, Lisa Olivier and Paige White take it in turns to look after the vulnerable youngster at Kynsna Elephant Park in South Africa. COMM: Abigail, from Brighton, has seen Fiela's progress first-hand. Abigail: I've known Fiela since she was born, I was there as she was born, She started off as a very feisty elephant and she's still very feisty.

Abigail: Fiela! That's my hair; I just washed it. Abigail: When I came here after I graduated university, I did the last of my safari qualifications and then I came to the elephant park for my placement, and I just never left. COMM: Fiela has had to be hand-fed because her mother rejected her soon after birth. Lisa: She generally has two litres every two hours but she doesn't always drink it so you can kind of see when she's hungry.

pexels-photo-3739324.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&h=650&w=940

COMM: Young elephants spend all of their early lives with their mothers and can panic if they find themselves alone -- so the nannies must even sleep beside Fiela. Abigal: She's practicing stretching it so she's just trying to get all the muscles working. COMM: But for these elephant nannies, looking after Fiela and her friends is the opportunity of a lifetime. Abigail: I couldn't have asked for a better job, back in the UK it's something that nobody else has that experience and I just love telling them my stories and it's just fantastic. COMM: To prepare her for adult-life, Fiela is being encouraged to spend more time with the main herd. And though the nannies have formed an incredible bond with her, they know that, ultimately, her place is with them. Abigail: It's gonna be very sad when she's finally out in the herd and we don't have to be there anymore, they've accepted her as being part of the herd, it's just that she needs to accept them instead of having us as our primary herd as it were.

She needs to now choose them over us. It'll be more rewarding seeing her there. COMM: For now, Fiela continues to enjoy the company of her human herd. But one day soon her British nannies hope to see her roaming free again..

Animals Galore! Episode 10: African Elephant

Greetings, and welcome to the tenth episode of Animals Galore! On this special episode, We're going to take a look at the largest living land animal, the African elephant. Because of their size, an elephant must consume an enormous amount of food to survive. An adult can eat up to 600 pounds in a single day. Lucky for us- -they're vegetarian. Elephants are the only land animal that cannot jump. They are so heavy, that they can't lift all four legs off the ground at the same time. Elephants will often throw dirt on themselves with their trunks. These are dust baths, which act as a natural sunscreen for their sensitive skin. An elephant's trunk is actually a fusion of its nose and upper lip. The trunk is made up of 40,000 individual muscles, whereas a human's entire body contains a mere 639! With a nose that strong, they must have a great sense of smell! As a matter of fact, they do! Elephants can smell water from up to three miles away.

True or False: Elephants are afraid of mice. The answer is false, this is nothing more than a popular myth. However, elephants are terrified of bees and I can definitely see why. BARRY: "You like Jazz?" Luke: (Shudders in disgust).

Dance Moms: Abby Appears at Nia and Kendall's Performance (Season 6 Flashback) | Lifetime

Hello! HOLLY: Walking into The Mint I'm definitely feeling nervous. I mean, this is like a legit club. That's going to be mine Nia on stage singing. On top of that, I decided to invite the mini moms and Abby because I want Abby to truly see Nia as a star. Honestly, I'm not sure Abby is going to show up today. Hey! Hi! And there you go. And there she is I don't know what the hell Abby is doing right now. I'm glad everyone's not drinking. I thought this was a bar. They said the kids were dancing at a bar. I was like, ooh, tacky. What about like the Hard Rock Cafe or something like that.

OK. We gotta go. Abby's here. What? No, she's not. Kalani just texted me and said Abby's here. Amazing. Great. It wouldn't change a thing about your performance. Nope, it's not changing a thing. Thank you guys so much for coming. I just wanted to announce I have a very special guest that I wanted to bring on stage to do one of her own songs. This is Nia Sue Frazier. HOLLY: That's going to be my Nia on stage singing She's never done a ballad before, and in a ballad you hear everything. It's all on her and her vocals. So it's a very vulnerable opportunity for her to put herself out there as an artist, as a singer.

(SINGING) Feet don't fail me now. I've gotta get away from here. I lost my way somehow. Gotta face my fears, yeah. (SINGING) I'll stand here on my own, not afraid to face the crowd, no more second guessing who I am. I'll wear the crown. Because I'm a winner, no matter how many times I fall. Call me a winner, because at the end I'll be called a winner. Thank you everyone. I am just so, so proud of her. She looked like she was born to perform. I'm just amazed. So I want to bring to the stage another two special guests. I'd like to welcome back Miss Nia Sue Frazier. And, I'd also like to welcome Miss Kendall Vertes. JILL: I can't believe this is happening. She's probably nervous because Abby has spent years telling her, "mm," It's not quite good enough.

pexels-photo-4315839.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&h=650&w=940

But this is her opportunity to prove her wrong. (SINGING) I feel alive, and go through the motions I feel like trying. You're holding my heart, it's growing bigger by the day. Wish I could promise hide away. And I-- I don't want to do anything but cry. And I-- I don't want to do anything but cry. You guys are so good! I know! I'm a bad mom. I'm a proud mom. Nia you can come sit. Do you guys feel so relieved? Yes. I'm so proud of you guys. You know, in some ways, I was so nervous about Abby being here because she's not supportive, but I'm so happy she's here actually hearing you guys. Actually she's fake supportive I cannot believe Abby didn't congratulate Nia and Kendall for their performance. That I am not going to stand by and let happen.

Hi, how are you? Is Kendall not performing? Kendall performed. She just did the "oohs" and cry. I thought she was doing her own number. No. She did. She sang. Yeah. Nia and Kendall shared the second verse. So let's not take that away from Kendall. Like Nia and Kendall both performed. Let's save ourselves, and let's be nice and positive.

HOLLY: Here was the moment for Abby to say something redeeming. Something that maybe could change where we go from here. And she couldn't bring herself to take the high road. And instead, she just like dug the hole that much deeper. And I am thinking at this point, oh it's on. We have competition tomorrow against Abby. May the best team win..

Urban Fashion Week: Fashion Week Internationale (Part 1/3)

https://www.youtube.com/embed/jkBPhXdHuQs

CHARLET DUBOC: Welcome to "Fashion Week Internationale," the show that reports on the most fabulous fashion weeks in the world, and the culture and politics behind them. This time, we take you down south to Atlanta, Georgia. -What a coincidence that you're here for Urban Fashion Week, and all I know is fashion. Every day I wake up it's like a fashion statement. I wear army fatigue pants. That's because I'm a soldier, you hear me? CHARLET DUBOC: When you say "soldier," I know you don't mean it in a military sense. You're not in the army, right? -It's not necessarily a war, like I'm going to kill somebody. But it's a war against trying to better myself every day. So at the end of the day, I'm struggling, and I'm fighting a war against my haters and my doubters, to show them that they ain't going to stop me, never. CHARLET DUBOC: In the last few years, the city of Atlanta has reinvented itself as one of the entertainment capitals of America.

With massive home-grown artists such as Outkast, Ludacris, Waka Flocka Flame, and Gucci Mane, all paying homage to their city's inimitable southern charm and titillating nightlife. We had come here to meet a man called Billy Bad Ass as he prepared to bring his Urban Fashion Week franchise to London, bringing some Atlanta style to the prim English streets. CHARLET DUBOC: Billy had lined up a week of urban fashion delights in Atlanta, and I couldn't wait to live out my music video fantasies with Billy as my guide. We met Billy at a casting call to select some aspiring models to take to London, some of whom had flown in from as far as Kansas. Billy. BILLY BAD ASS: Yeah. CHARLET DUBOC: Thanks for having us.

BILLY BAD ASS: You're right here at the spot. First time we've started out our interviews for the models. We're trying to select one model to go to London. So we getting it going. Let me tell you a little bit about what's going on. We're going to actually select probably one, or maybe two models, to go to London. We take care of your hotel, your partying. White party, black party, whatever parties you're going to have up there. You'll be able to eat for free and just kind of hang out, on me. CHARLET DUBOC: Before getting down to the casting process, Billy wanted to introduce me to some of his assembled entourage. He'd invited along the first and only black female NASCAR driver.

BILLY BAD ASS: This is Tia. She's a NASCAR driver. I think she's going to be very instrumental in helping a lot of young ladies get out of the stereotype that they can't drive. CHARLET DUBOC: Then there was the African business investor. KENNY: What I love about him is his thinking and his innovative capability. He thinks of things outside of the box. BILLY BAD ASS: I'm actually trying to build my own fashion car. Body make, engine, tires, everything is fashion. And that's not being done yet. CHARLET DUBOC: And an environmental officer from Fox Entertainment. BILLY BAD ASS: I think urban and eco needs to get together. FELICIA PHILLIPS: That's exactly right. BILLY BAD ASS: I look like a fool, but I'm the only one in my neighborhood with the blue box out in front of my house on Fridays. I'm going to put my cool shades on.

See, I'm fashion. I've got to get the Rick Ross going on, see. CHARLET DUBOC: Finally, he got round to directing a photoshoot. BILLY BAD ASS: I'm looking for a girl with a little bit more booty than a couture model, a little rump in the trunk. Mess with that hair. You've got it all out, now. You've got to let them see it. Throw a kiss. Throw a kiss. No, no, no. Throw a kiss like you would give your boyfriend. BILLY BAD ASS: You're throwing me a kiss like you would give a wall. Come one, throw a kiss like you'd give your boyfriend a kiss. Be sincere with something like aaah. -That's how you kiss your boyfriend. CHARLET DUBOC: Then he got down to a Tyra Banks-style interview session. ARLENE: My name's Arlene White. I am born and raised here in Atlanta, Georgia. JANAE BROOKS: Janae Brooks, and I'm 19. STINA DIAS: Stina Dias. I'm from Kansas City as well. BILLY BAD ASS: What sign are you? -Capricorn. -I'm a Libra. -Water sign. JANAE BROOKS: I'm an Aries. STINA DIAS: Really? I am too! JANAE BROOKS: Really? STINA DIAS: Yeah.

pexels-photo-1038043.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&h=650&w=940

CHARLET DUBOC: And the questioning got increasingly awkward. BILLY BAD ASS: Let's say, for example, we're at a club, and we wanted to party, and you were ready to go, and we weren't ready to go. -Um. BILLY BAD ASS: What if you were waiting for your flight and you were waiting and you couldn't get on the flight, and you got bumped. What would you do? JANAE BROOKS: I don't really know. Um. I'm not sure, really. BILLY BAD ASS: There's a reason you're here. What reason should I bring you that you would stand out? What is it about you as a person that's going to make me want to bring you to London? What's in your heart? What's the passion you have that's going to make you do something in London? JANAE BROOKS: That I'm just really determined.

It's pretty much my determination. Going for it, pretty much. He says the question, why should we pick you? Me, at the time, I was thinking, well, shoot, I don't really know. I'm just here. So he was like, well, I picked you because of something really deep down. Maybe I didn't know what the answer was, but he knew it was something else. I with I knew. STINA DIAS: And at the end of the day, we ended up spending close to $1,000 just to get down here. It's a lot of money. CHARLET DUBOC: And why is it worth that much money? STINA DIAS: It'll never come again.

JANAE BROOKS: Nothing like this will ever come again. Just the fact that we came to Atlanta, a lot models in Kansas City have never even been out of the city, let alone out of the state. CHARLET DUBOC: I wasn't sure of the reason behind Billy's tough love approach, and wondered how much of this was for the benefit of the camera. BILLY BAD ASS: Sometimes people don't, they don't prepare themselves.

Like, that girl came all the way from Kansas City. She could have practiced her photos, she could have practiced her attitude. In the next time, they're going to be a lot more prepared, especially if they're dealing with me. Because you don't know what you're going to get with me. I know a lot of people. I'm going out to Vegas and hanging out with Mayweather's people. Mayweather just got out of jail, but I'm friends with some of those people that he hangs out with. So I'm going out there, and they're going to show me a good time, and I'm going to be prepared for that. My gear's going to be right. My swag is going to be up. I'm going to be like, yeah, I can hang out with Mayweather, with his 30 cars. I can hang out with him. So that's what it's about. You've got to be prepared. CHARLET DUBOC: Billy had organized an afterparty of sorts at a club. However, only two of his friends and the lady NASCAR driver showed up. But Billy implored us to keep the camera rolling.

So I sat and talked nicely with his friends about their cool idea for a zombie movie. This wasn't quite the Atlanta experience I'd imagined, but then it was only our first night..

Feeding Your African Dwarf Frog (Episode 2)

https://www.youtube.com/embed/6vJZerkzsv4

welcome to chris's fishes and frogs in this video i'll discuss the most hotly contested topic among keepers of african dwarf frogs foods african dwarf frogs are technically bottom feeding scavengers meaning they are omnivores but in my experience they much prefer eating meat to eating plants mice's shrimp brine shrimp blood worms tube effects worms beefheart daphnia these tend to be frog favorites dwarf frogs swallow their food whole and younger frogs may not be able to consume whole shrimp or worms for them i recommend beef heart which can be more easily ripped apart with their claws and which will bulk up your frogs more quickly so that they can handle larger meals some hobbyists insist that certain foods in particular fatty beef heart and blood worms are causes of bloat to my knowledge there is no scientific evidence of such a link and i myself have never had any frog develop load despite eating beef heart and blood worms in any case it's probably a good idea to vary your frog's diet as you might with any other pet when a frog gets full its tummy will bulge slightly on its left side this is perfectly normal and not an indication of bloat frogs should be fed until full daily or every other day some hobbyists offer their frogs pellets these can offer good nutrition but you might find your frogs reluctant to eat them besides the less appealing taste another challenge with pellets is that they tend to disperse in the water making them difficult for frogs to grab a hold of dwarf frogs are not only weak swimmers they also have poor eyesight this makes them slow eaters if you are dropping food into the tank you want to make sure the food doesn't break apart before the frogs can get to it frozen shrimp and worms are good options in this regard many hobbyists with sand or gravel use a feeding dish to avoid food getting lost in the substrate a bare bottom tank works even better you can also feed your frogs individually i recommend holding food with tongs just above the frog's head the frog will usually raise its head and lunge at the food if the frog tries to eat the tongs don't let it sometimes you'll see frogs lunge at plants or even at each other this is a normal behavior resulting from their poor eyesight freeze-dried shrimp and worms can also be useful foods whether held under the water right above an individual frog using tongs or broken apart prior to being dropped in the water freeze-dried food dropped in the tank will float and scatter on the surface but i find my frogs love to go hunting for meaty snacks even at the water line when i come back the next day all the freeze-dried critters are gone another good food option is live worms you can drop some in the tank and let the frogs find them or you can feed the frogs individually with a pipette when using a pipette you have to try to time your release to coincide with the frog's lunge this is tricky to accomplish and will inevitably lead to worms dropped on the tank floor if you're interested in trying live worms for your frogs check your local pet store for things like blackworms most large stores like petco and petsmart at least where i live don't usually sell live worms that are thin and small enough for dwarf frogs in another video i'll talk about cultivating live blackworms at home if you have other advice on feeding african dwarf frogs you'd like to share or any questions please leave a comment below if you enjoyed this video please like it and consider subscribing to the channel this is chris's fishes and frogs thank you for watching
