https://www.youtube.com/embed/87WL0BtJAYQ

STUFF. JUST BRACE FOR IT. >> I'M PREPARED. THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP. >>> EARLIER THIS BLACK HISTORY MONTH WE BROUGHT YOU JAY CAMERON. HE CAME IN TO TALK ABOUT BLACK HISTORY BEFORE AMERICA. AND HE PROMISED TO COME BACK AND TEACH US ABOUT HOW AFRICAN CUISINE HAS INFLUENCED AMERICAN FOOD. AND HE BROUGHT HIS SON WHO IS A CHEF, JASON CAMERON. >> WE TALK ABOUT THE CULTURES THAT CAME OVER FROM AFRICA. BUT YOU'RE SAYING FOOD IS A BIG INFLUENCE.

>> FOOD WAS A BIG INFLUENCE. AND WHAT WE'LL LOOK AT IS COFFEE, OKRA, BLACK EYED PEAS AND SOMETHING INTERESTING THAT WE ALL LOVE. COCOA. >> COCOA. >> COCOA, CHOCOLATE. >> IVORY COAST AND GHANA ARE THE NUMBER ONE AND TWO PRODUCERS OF COCOA IN THE WORLD. AND WHAT ENDED UP HAPPENING WHEN I WENT TO GO THAT IN 2018 I STARTED TASTES THIS RICE. AND IT HAD A FAMILIAR TASTE AND I SAID THIS TASTES FAMILIAR, SOMETHING I'M USED TO. AND I WAS BORN IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA. THIS TASTES LIKE RED RICE. DURING THE COLONIAL TIMES, DURING SLAVERY. THEY WOULD GO TO SIERRA LEONE AND GUINEA. AND BRING IT TO THE EAST COAST OF CHARLESTON AND SAVANNAH. THIS RICE IS SO FAMILIAR. AND WHAT WE DID WAS WE CREATED AND CHEF JASON DID IT. HE'S GOING TO BE TO DO BIG THINGS. YOU CAN LOOK AND SEE THE SIMILARITIES. THEY ARE TOMATO BASED RICES.

AND AS YOU SEE WITH JASON DEMONSTRATING, MANY OF THE INGREDIENTS ARE SIMILAR. AND SO THEY HAVE COMPETITIONS IN WEST AFRICA. SIERRA LEONE, LIBERIA, NIGERIA. >> WHO MAKES THE BEST. >> PARTICULARLY WITH JOLOFF, THEY HAVE MEAT. IN NIGERIA AND GHANA IT'S NOT AS MUCH MEAT. JAMBALAYA IS SPANISH, WEST AFRICAN INFLUENCE. AND YOU BEGIN TO SEE THIS. JASON, TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS. >> RIGHT HERE I HAVE THE SALAD, ONIONS, SAUSAGE, CELERY, AND WE MIX IT UP. >> MIXING ALL THIS TOGETHER. >> AND THEN THE TOMATO BASE FOR MOST OF THE DISHES.

>> WHAT WAS IT LIKE FOR YOU AND YOUR DAD TOGETHER TO KIND OF INVESTIGATE THE CONNECTION? >> IT WAS PRETTY GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS A GOOD THING. THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE TWO RICES. ONE HAVING THE MEAT IN IT. AND THE ONE HAVING THE MAJORITY VEGETABLES. >> WE EAT THESE FOODS SOMETIMES AND WE DON'T THINK ABOUT HOW IT EVOLVED OR WHERE IT ORIGINATED FROM. TO TACT TICKLY SEE THIS WAS A HUGE INFLUENCE FROM AFRICA AND THIS IS WHAT WE ENJOY TODAY. >> HE HAS A SKILL. AND I WANTED TO SEE HOW SKILLED HE WAS. IF YOU CAN MAKE RED RICE. AND I TASTED IT. AUTHENTIC. AND THEN I TASTED THE JOLOFF.

AND HE TOOK IT TO SOME FRIENDS AND THEY CRUSHED IT. THEY ENJOYED IT. >> I'M GOING TO LET YOU FINISH THIS. ALL MONTH YOU HAVE SOME GREAT TIDBITS AND BITS OF INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH. WHERE CAN WE GO TO FIND OUT MORE? >> MAXIMUM IMPACT SUCCESS.COM. YOU CAN GET 29 FREE BEFORE SLAVERY. >> AND WE HAVE DAD AND SON IN THE KITCHEN. THIS IS AMAZING. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. WE'LL .
