One Pot Recipe | North African Chicken & Potatoes | The Prince Eats

https://www.youtube.com/embed/pkykyXphtT4

welcome to the prince eats here's a quick video for one pot north african chicken and potatoes full ingredients lists and step-by-step directions are located in the description and if you enjoyed this video please like comment subscribe and share let's jump right into it you'll need chicken stock salt and pepper chicken seasoning for this recipe i'm using mesa devita north african cooking sauce some of the ingredients include tomato paste which really is the base there's red bell pepper dates garlic and smoked paprika parsley and ginger it's supposed to give a north african flavor you'll need olive oil dry white wine is great but optional oil your pan opt for a pot or a pan with width and depth big enough to hold the chicken and potatoes you desire to prepare season your chicken and once the pot reaches medium high heat go ahead and add your chicken to the pan i'm using medium high heat because i'm going to crowd the pan normally i would advise against crowding the pan however i want to sear this chicken in one batch so i'm keeping it on medium high heat just so i can sustain some of that temperature when crowding the pan you lose heat which is counterproductive when you want to sear you'll still be able to get a good sear but it'll just take a little bit longer normally when i want a good sear i'll start the pan out on hot and then right before putting the chicken into the pan i'll reduce the heat to medium once the chicken is in the pan resist the urge to flip it too soon to get a good sear you really have to let the heat the pan and the oil do its job let the chicken sear for five to ten minutes afterwards flip the chicken and cook it on the other side for an additional three to five minutes don't worry about cooking the chicken all the way through it will finish cooking in the oven transfer the chicken to a clean plate leave the chicken renderings in the pan if you're using dry white wine this is the time to add it turn the heat on high turning the heat on high allows the alcohol in the wine to cook out sooner rather than later when the liquid reduces by half or the strong smell of alcohol dissipates it's ready for the next step use this time to scrape those chicken bits off the bottom of the pan don't get rid of them those chicken bits add flavor add your butter next add the sauce while still on high heat i let the tomato sauce cook in the middle of the pan and gradually incorporate it into the butter and wine sauce next add your potatoes and toss them gently in the sauce add your chicken stock don't let the liquid in the pan rise above half the depth of the pan as the potatoes and chicken cooks down the liquid in the pan will rise place the chicken on top of the potatoes bake in a preheated oven at 425 degrees for 45 minutes to one hour and just like that you're done the chicken comes out crispy on the skin the potatoes tender if you desire crispier skin for the chicken with about 10 minutes left in the baking process you can turn the temperature up to 450.

🇬🇲 DIY Gathered African Print Skirt + 10% DISCOUNT CODE FABRICS 🇬🇲 Gambia Culture Couture

https://www.youtube.com/embed/OhA2zVK8YQs

hi loves for this tutorial you'll need 1 yard/meter of fabric an iron a non-seperating zipper pins fabric scissors and a sewing machine first I cut a large piece at the top of my fabric this is the piece I will use for the waistband now it's time to create the folds in the fabric what I do is fold it double and then press it a little bit then I do the same thing on the other side and continue until it's large enough to fit my waist but also fit my hips to make it easier for myself I already sew this part so the pleats stay in place now I make sure my waistband fits the skirt by cutting a piece Then I place it on top and pin the top as well this is the part that we will sew afterwards since the fabric is quite stiff I press it again place the zipper with the wrong side up on the side of your skirt pin it in place and then sew along sewing a zipper on is quite tricky as you have to make sure that you sew it along the fabric side without touching the parts that are hard otherwise your needle might break now turn your skirt to the other side and then pin your zipper to that side as well then open your zipper to make it easier when you're sewing now that the zipper is in place we will sew the bottom and sew along these lines now that that's done I will sew the waistband in place fold it over and then sew along the bottom line I like my skirts short so I cut a little piece but if you like it longer you can leave it like that then I hem the bottom turn your skirt to the right side since the print of the fabric is very good the back and the front look the same now that it's facing the front I press it again and then it's ready to wear! and this is the final look I'm 'sew' excited if you want to see more videos with non stretch fabrics click 'like' make sure you subscribe for more videos and share it with all your sewing friends thanks for watching! I know so many of you have told me it's hard to find so comment below and please let me know and you can also follow me on instagram, facebook and pinterest

Aussies Guess South African Slang

https://www.youtube.com/embed/Pnz-Z5_-Tl8

- (beep) you? Get (beep)-ed. (upbeat indie rock music) - We're guessing South African slang. - Aaaah! - (laughs) - That's- you gotta be quick, y'know, sharp sharp. - Sharp sharp - Sharp sharp. - Maybe it's a hunting thing. - The word was just so good you said it twice. (upbeat indie rock music) - I think it's, like, Jo-burg slang, so if you had to, if you had to say, like, "sharp sharp", it'd be like, good, or- - Or like, almost like, not thank you, but like, if you've done something then, you're like, "sharp sharp." - If someone was like, "ah, thanks for the coffee," or something, you'd go, like, "sharp sharp." - Oh, it's tight! - Okay, yeah. - Sharp sharp! - "Mooi"! - Mu... mu-ey. Maybe moy? - Moy, moy. - Mooi, mate! - Mooi? - Mooi! - "Mooi", mate? - Isn't "mooi" mate? - Let's leave? Mooi? - Mooi. I think it's "Mum".

- What d'ya wanna do? Mooi? - I'm just gonna take a (beep) huge stab in the dark. House- am I right or am I right? (upbeat indie rock music) - This is "mooi", and it's, it's the Afrikaans word for pretty, or nice? - You'd be like, oh, "it's such a mooi day", so like, such a nice day, or, you can basically use "mooi" for anything. - Or like, "that girl is mooi", it'd be like a compliment. - It's not a very pretty word. - "Lekker"- oh, no, I've heard it too, I think it's bad, like a bad guy? - "Lekker"! - Okay! Shit! I know this one! Ooh, maybe it's an idiot.

- I think it's something to do with a guy, but I have a feeling it's like a, like a, like a dodgy guy. - "You lekker", yeah, I'm gonna say it's a bad word. (upbeat indie rock music) - This is probably the most popular South African slang, it means "good" or "fun", good fun, entertaining. - It's so versatile, you can use it for anything. - I use "lekker" in life. - I reckon it's like a fight. - Cigar? - It's gotta be a drug.

pexels-photo-4262012.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&h=650&w=940

Don't do drugs. - I think it means, like... (lisps) I wanna kif... kif that guy (both laugh) - What's "kif" mean? (upbeat indie rock music) - Something that's like, really cool. If something's, like, really cool, you'd be like, "it's so kif." - Well kif! - Island? - It kinda sounds like a swear word. Like I think if you stubbed your toe, or you like, you walked into a door, you'd be like, "jislaaik!" - I think it sounds like a drink. - Ooh! - Lady? Beautiful lady or something? (upbeat indie rock music) - So, "jislaaik" means, like, "wow", or like, almost like "wowzer", it's kind of like, quirky "wow". All of these are like, impulsive slang, so it'd be like, "aw yes, like, that was a good try," something like that. - No, I would use it in, like, a complaining way. So if someone, like, made me do something, I'd be like, - Oh, yeah, sure. - "Jislaaik, you're so annoying." - If your girl was rude to someone else, you'd be like, "jislaaik", yeah, yeah, yeah.

- (laughs) - I got that, kind of, nearly, not really! Like, if you walked into a door or you stubbed your toe, you'd express exasperation, dislike. - Ahh, "howzit"! Ahh, c'mon! - (singing together) Howzit! - "Howzit" means "wow". - Or "there you go". - Or "there you go". - "Howzit", just like, without the going, it's like- - It has to be. If it was something else, like, I give up. - Maybe, maybe the Australian one's "howzaaaat" and this one's "howzit". (upbeat indie rock music) - "Howzit" is also a greeting, you go up to your friend and be like, "howzit, bru?" Some people also take it as like, "how are you?" - Yes! Ayy! - One point! - (beep) you, get (beep)-ed. - "Voetsek." - Ooh, okay, you can say that! - I think that's like, "(beep) sake." - Vagina? - No! - Like, "what's that", like "what's going on?" "Voetsek." - "Voetsek." Yeah, what's up? - Ay, voetsek? - Would you "voetsek" with me? Does it mean sex? - I think, let's go for "what's up".

(upbeat indie rock music) - "Voetsek", that's a good one. - That's my fave. - Okay, it's like, "(beep) off"- - Basically. - It's like, more like, funny, like you'd say it to a friend, he'd be like, "ah, voetsek." - Or, like, all my friends say it "sek" instead of "voetsak". - Yeah, so it's like, T-S-E-K. It's like the slang of this- - It's literally just "(beep) off", it's a lot of fun to say. - Ah, so like, "hey Krista, like, let's go for lunch," "actually, no," (together) Voetsek! - Sounds Russian! (upbeat indie rock music) - I like our slang, yeah, it's pretty good. - It's so funny. So many different languages within the slang, so you'll be speaking English, but you'll use Afrikaans slang word. - You guys have your slang, we have ours. You probably think ours is really weird. I respect that. - But I like the "voetsek" one, because that's like, get (beep)-ed, nicely! (whooshing, squeak).
