Dance Moms: Abby Embarrasses Nia at an Audition (Season 5 Flashback) | Lifetime

- Hey. - Hey. I like your outfit. Thank you. I like yours, too. Yeah, you look cute. We're in LA. The girls have their first casting call, and I think we all are really excited. This is a big deal. Hey, girls. How are you doing? Good. I'm John Barba. I'm a casting director. I'm going to bring you into the room for a bit, OK? Nice to meet you. This is a huge opportunity for the girls to network. This meeting is what people in the industry call a general. It's how new actors pitch themselves to agencies to get on their must-hire list for the future. Just so you know a little bit about us, we do commercials. We do music videos. We did the Taylor Swift, "Shake It Off." I'm so excited.

I really want to be a singer and become a pop star. Maybe if I do well today, that dream might come true. I don't think people realize just how exciting the "anotomy" of the cell is. - "Anatomy." Can you say "anatomy?" - Anatomy. - Anatomy. - I said "anotomy." "Anotomy." I've liked you since forever, but I never imagined you liked me back. I think this is possibly the best day of my entire life! That was very nice. You did a really great job. Thank you. This is Nia. Hi, Nia. I'm Lisa. Do you have any questions before we get started, or you would like to just jump right into it? I'll just jump right into it. Great. Go stand right out there on that pink mark. Hey, there. Oh, I'm sorry. Am I in your way? - No. What-- I, uh, I just want to say that I was really impressed with your presentation in biology today.

Really? Wow, thanks. - She's great. She's doing good. Like Ben would ever have a crush on you! Why would you? How could you? I never did anything to you! How could I be so stupid. Just get away from me. OK. She did not take-- she took the character in a different direction, which was her mother. Sometimes it's better to go off a script, you know? And sometimes it's those choices that actually get the job. The person who does it the way everyone else does not do it. Did Abby really just go there? Abby ruined Nia's audition because I held Abby accountable. It is absolutely cruel. I want Nia to be successful. I want her to achieve her dream of becoming a star. But at what cost? I'm not a puppet. I'm not going to be a Yes person. But I'm sure not going to stand here and let you say these horrendous things about any of these kids. It's wrong. What you just did was foul, Abby. Foul. What? You taking away an opportunity. So if that makes you feel good, so be it. Trying to protect your child and make her not look like a complete fool Abby, Abby, don't think she looks like a complete fool.

pexels-photo-3622614.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&h=650&w=940

I really don't. Am I the only person who-- - I get it. Oh, OK. And we're all acting like this is normal. Everyone else wants to act that's normal behavior. So be it. Go back and look at your pictures of your personality when you were a baby, A mini-me? That's a compliment. OK. and you think that? It's a compliment, absolutely. There's nothing that she has to be ashamed of her mother for.

I am very congenial. - Thanks, Abby. This was a really great opportunity for the kids. So I'll let you know girls tonight what's happening with the competition. - See you tomorrow. See ya. It's really-- like I put myself out there, and no one here said anything. Everyone's out for self. That's what that was about. So whatever you got out of it, if it's a solo, if you got, you know, advantages of being a casting call, if you got more auditions, if you got a song, I hope that keeps you warm at night.

It's not worth it to me. Well, it's not-- It's not worth it to me. But, Holly, I don't know what to say to a woman who can say that to kids and has done that to my child. You're wrong. You're wrong. - I get it. You brought your daughters here. You've come across country to be led by Abby. And you failed your daughters, because you are afraid of Abby..

got some plantains here you want to taste some  plantains let's have him try some with this I'm   a taste obviously I'm gonna taste it first  to make sure it's safe because y'all know   it'd be spicy okay this is  not spicy what should I say what do you think yeah Eli usually eats on his own as you  guys seen before Oh spicy is this spicy I   just started tearing up because I'm like man not  gonna have all this chicken to myself yeah water it's not that spicy but I  guess it's spicy for him y'all   but um what I was saying he usually eats on his  own so he's like other like what are you are fine it's  safe this one take this one here taste this one   you like it he's swinging his feet let me  see this one what do you think yummy right   yummy here take this one this one's  a little softer this one eat that one don't try you all right you got it you got it Papa   you got it so I like I like  egusi this is igusi y'all I like jollof rice I like um efo rero  I think that's how you pronounce it I like the sweet plantains as well and  I also like the their chicken as well   and a jollof rice um the only  thing I haven't tried is this here   I legit forgot how to pronounce it and I forgot  how to say it what's the name of it let me know   in the comment section but it's basically assorted  parts of the meat like they said it's the usual   undesired parts of the um animal I think this  is beef and they basically like the liver all   the parts that people don't usually eat and they  put it in this here what do you think it's good he usually eats on his own y'all so it's in here  so I gotta try that one and it says very spicy but   it's delicious so we'll see I want the rice but  I don't want to spill so I'm gonna go ahead and   grab this like this because yo I'm hungry okay um guys I'm super hungry and to be  honest okay it's good huh I haven't   been eating any carbs so this is literally  like a treat I'm gonna give I'm gonna taste   the chicken and see if he would eat it here  it is right here it's looking all so lovely baby this right here this right here is good  good you want some chicken place it Papa what do you think it's good right yeah foreign it's   right here you want it you want this one no you  want this one hmm here let me take it that's yours good say good don't roll your eyes at me little  one don't you don't you roll your eyes on me   then you roll your eyes on me you're eating  the cartilage my my guy there you go but yeah   yeah let me know in the comment section for  sure do your kids you like the Nigerians do   they do they just learn to eat the spicy level  that y'all give them or you adjust that nope no you say no what do you mean  what are you trying to say yeah you want to tell them anything ah you just want to eat I feel you it'd be  like that y'all it'd be like that sometimes   sometimes okay okay here you go there you go  he's good he's swinging his feet he loves he   likes it y'all it looks like Eli likes it he  liked the rice he liked the Fufu he liked the   plantains and he likes the chicken the other  stuff I guess they're too spicy for him I   am officially going to try this right here you  want the rice okay Papa here rice say rice rice he likes their eyes hey swing his feet and  dancing yeah it's spicy too it's a little spicy   a little spicy so guys Eli's been Eli talks  a storm but he chose he's choosing to be very   mute today very quiet today look this is we have  some liver here I can see I think this is tripe something gooey I don't know what this is  I'm kind of scared at the same time but   you never know it might it might be something  good it's supposedly a delicacy so let's see ah okay that was a try I'm familiar with tribe it tastes good is it  actually really good spicy flavor to it okay um yeah that was spicy   and this I'm assuming this is the liver I can see  the peppers look at this y'all I could see the   pepper I don't know if you guys can see that  but I could literally see the pepper on here that's not Liberty that's actually beef um it's good there's gooey stuff right here  I don't know what is this look at y'all oh that's fat oh oh wow  actually it actually tastes good   I don't know if it's because it's spicy  because you know y'all know I like spicy food   so it actually okay it's actually really good hmm do I know that what piece I'm eating for  real I don't know but I consume I'm guessing   I'm guessing the gooey part definitely  seemed like it was fat I wish it had   more sauce though so I could  kind of like grab this Fufu   and like you know you know what I'm talking  about y'all know what I'm talking about um oh wow oh wow you okay be careful now food is  yummy this is the fish I didn't have him   try this fish because this was spicy  but let's see this is a snapper y'all   a snapper fish a whole snapper okay  let's see is the fish itself spicy   yeah it is actually correct me if I'm wrong  at the um restaurant that I got this food from   um I believe it's called YOLO pot Joe love  hot that's the restaurant name but correct   me if I'm wrong is Fufu the same as pounded  yams or is Fufu just the name of different   swallows like pounding yam EBA I believe  that's how you pronounce it and Amala amale mmm yummy you know he don't know which one he wants  more the chicken or the plantain he's looking like   Eli's now 17 months y'all well he'll be 17 months  on the 31st of this month those who follow me on   Instagram probably already seen him chatting  a lot I started him on also like a one-year   um learning curriculum it's not as strict  it's just basically learning and playing   sure throughout the day I would  teach him something and then well   make sure he get it for the  whole week type stuff like if I'm   doing the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star song that's  what we were seeing for the week and he'll get it   if I'm learning to if I'm teaching him the color  yellow then he'll be like okay that's what he'll   learn for the week that color or shape or an  animal and so far he's been doing good right I really wish this wasn't as spicy because it's  like spinach and he would have liked it more chew that chicken chew you think this is funny you're like girl stop that  smacking that's I just copying you oh he's so cute thank you you try to say you  want me can you pass it to Mommy okay ah free Mommy ah thank you mmm it's good you gotta be careful he just stuffed this whole  plantain in his mouth he's still eating y'all   so basically I'm almost about finished myself  because like I told y'all you know I I haven't   been able to eat as much anymore like I used  to even though I felt like I ate a lot here   you know this this this right here is gone like  well half of it is gone and then we got half of   the jollof rice though a Goosey is all complete uh  almost done basically we just got some meats here   um the meat this one here the meat is not as  tender so I'm not really picking on the meat but   this was good that Gucci was good  even though the meat was not as tender   um the effort was good the fish is over honestly  the fish food kind of tastes overpowered by the   effort so it just really tastes like  this part so I don't really taste the   the fish itself but it's good I wanted to  get a puff puff but the restaurant didn't   have it I wanted to try their meat patties  uh the restaurant didn't have it um there   was some other things I wanted to try so badly  but they didn't have it where's your cup did you   drop your cup I told you not to touch it yeah  I've been having Eli drink from a cup y'all so   here he did that's why he wants it in there  don't spill it be very careful okay yeah drink it   duel yeah he did it for you guys good job  you're a big boy how old are you yeah you won really I don't know if y'all heard  him say it how old are you Eli I just can't I am so blessed y'all I just can't Eli yeah  you're showing off why are you showing off he's just so intelligent y'all I am definitely  proud of you papa yeah when you get older you   see this video You're Gonna See mommy's very  proud of you mommy love Mommy and Daddy and   your siblings love you very very much you want  to call it at the end of the video you all done   all done all right guys so we're  gonna end this video right here   hope you guys enjoyed Eli trying in  this Nigerian African food up what what you're not finished he's not done y'all  but we're gonna end it here anyways because   I feel like this was super long but anyways  y'all Mopane Worms: Super nutritious - but would YOU try this popular African food?

https://www.youtube.com/embed/vjvJLdL26SY

This is a mopane bite. It’s actually a mopane worm, it’s very nice,   very delicious and very nutritious. Let’s have a taste. Mmhmm.  You have tried the potato chips, you have  tried the chickens, you have tried the sushi.  How about trying something much  more nutritious and delicious?  Try the mopane worm. So, the mopane worm is a nutritious meal,  it can be part of a nutritious meal.  It can be a snack; you can eat it as relish  and you can put it in your smoothie as well.  A mopane worm are very high in protein, they are  very high in fiber and very high in good fats.  So, it is a food source that you would want  to have on your plate instead of other meats that probably have GMO’s which mopane worms do not  have because they are one hundred percent organic.

It is like a wonderful flavour  exploding in your mouth.  It’s really quite tasty. I’ve come to realise that people can’t tell the   difference; whether it’s a worm or a caterpillar. But when I try to explain to them that   worms actually eat dead things and this is a  caterpillar that actually feeds on mopane leaves.  So, that sparks something in them to  take away that this is a caterpillar.  I think that people are also looking  for an adventure, for some food that   they’ve never tasted before. “There’s a caterpillar on my   plate. This is adventurous, I want to  try it, I want to put it in my mouth.”  In order to make mopane worm much  more appealing to a wider audience.  What we have done is, we have spiced  them with flavours that people are   familiar with like your peri-peri. We have a spiced version of peri-peri,   we have chutney and barbeque so that we  found is very enticing to people because   most people do not know what they taste like. So, when you try to explain them that, “No, it   tastes a bit like peri-peri.” They are familiar with that and   then they take it and eat it. Now I’m going to show you   how we spice the mopane worm. Come with me into my kitchen.  First things first, hygiene is very important. We’re going to put on our hairnet, make sure that   our hair is nicely tucked in. Nice and clean.  And then when I come over here, I  come and see what I have for you.  So, this is what it looks like  when the mopane worms come to us.  You can actually tell how good the  mopane worm is from the smell of it.  And the size, normally is the dead  giveaway of when the harvest was done.

So,   you can tell by these little ones, they  are smaller than the summer harvest.  You can tell that they’re from April. They’ll be very nutritious, very delicious.  They’ve been soaked in brine and  left to dry under the African sun.  No additives, one hundred percent  organic, nutritious, delicious.  So, we’re going to spice this up  and make it ready for you to eat.  Now that we’ve poured them into this little  container here, we’re just going to have   a look through it to see if there are any  twigs or things that shouldn’t be in here.  Before we move to the next process.  We’re going to give them a good bath.  So, to get rid of the excess salt that  we’ve used to preserve the mopani.  We’re going to soak them in water and wash them. Okay, so now we’re going to drain the water out.  The mopane worms are nice and ready.   Here are our little friends. Nice and soft.

pexels-photo-6210514.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&h=650&w=940

Ready to go get some spices.  We’re going to put them in here   and we have the special blend of organic  spices that should be prepared for the mopane.  Okay, so now, the oven is  nice and toasty and ready.  And we’re going to put them in the  oven where they’re going to slow roast   for some time to make sure that  they are nice and crispy and tasty.  From Marlboro in Johannesburg to  the Banting Market in Pretoria.  It’s time for the flavour taste, it’s time to see  what the public thinks of these roasted mopani   worms that Phuti calls nutritious and delicious. So, what are the flavours that are in here?  This one is peri-peri and this one is barbeque. Barbeque.  Yes.

Barbeque, ready to snack,  very nutritious and delicious.  This actually tastes very good.  Tastes like barbequed meat.  Originally, I’m from Zimbabwe. So, mopane worms are a part of our culture.   We eat them as a special meal. So, they’re put as  relish, then you put the peri-peri then you can   have them with a main dish like pap. We call it Sadza. So,   that’s where I know them from. The taste is actually really fantastic.  And I’m a person who’s quite  scared of insects so it kind   of like grossed me out the first time I saw it. But I’m really enjoying it and I’m about to get   myself a packet as well. I love it.  Authentic, delicious taste.  I will highly recommend it.  Ancient African wisdom once  again provides us a sustainable,   highly nutritious meal served in delicious bite  sized portions that we know as mopane worms..

Djembe Kuku Rhythm 1st Accompaniment | African Drums

https://www.youtube.com/embed/eCcroEPRckM

Okay, we are going to show you the initial accompaniment for Kuku, from Guinea, West Africa for the Djembe. When we claim first accompaniment we imply the greater drum, not the musician, however the very first enhancement gamer. There is only 4 notes, slap, base, as well as two tones. First I play slap, base, two tones, but the put is available in prior to the beat. So, if I claim 5, and also six, and seven, as well as eight, five as well as 6 as well as seven, and also eight. So the base is on the beat, five, six, 7, 8. A little faster, five, six, seven, eight. It is satisfied songs, so we need to play the satisfied tempo, 5, six, seven, eight, 5, 6, one. Which is just how we play the initial part to Kuko from Guinea, West Africa. A little faster, five, 6, seven, eight. It is happy music, so we have to play the
