For those of you who are new to the globe of. West African percussion, below'' s a little intro. A conventional West African Djembe set consists of. Djembes as well as Dununs. among which is right here. Dununs, that'' s a collective word for three round. bass drums. The dununba which is the biggest one; '' Ba ' suggests big in ' Malinke '. The Sangban which is. the heart of any type of ensemble, the medium-sized drum. And the Kenkeni. Mamady Keita calls the Kenkeni. the '' electric motor ', the driving pressure of many rhythms. And also you'' ll understand why when you experience the. kind of components that are played on the Kenkeni. The Sangban is the '' heart ' of every ensemble.. As you discover more and also more West African rhythms, it'' s the Sangban that distinguishes one rhythm. from the other.And the Dununba, Mamady calls the ' Sauce ' because ' sauce' makes things delicious, and also. that'' s simply what the dununba does.
