The First Self-Taught African Fashion Designer, who after 28 years, Made it to Paris Couture Week

https://www.youtube.com/embed/VKdoKRD3bJ8

last year he made history by becoming the  first black African designer of being able   to Showcase his collection to the very famous  or close circle of hot couture catwalk in Paris so he is known for using a very European style  with an African Flair his name is Imane Ayissi   and he's originally from Cameroon and I was very  impressed when I read that he actually has no   formal design training whatsoever but he's been  able to create his own path in this I would say   very competitive industry so Imana Ayissi has  has had many lives before he's been a dancer   he danced for the Cameroon National Ballet his  dance with big name like Patrick Dupond who was   a very big French dancer he's been a performer  and even a model for the like Lanvin Givenchy   before eventually deciding that her he wanted to  embrace the world of fashion design himself and   Imane Ayissi says that he actually took him a good  28 years to be fully recognized yes he mentioned   28 years because in the past he is presented  collection that were not always successful   so he had to learn to improve his knowledge  of tailoring textile and he was kind of in a   mission in a way he's still in a kind of Mission  to Showcase that you can actually use the African   fabric in a very contemporary way so when you look  at his collections you can you can recognize a bit   of kente from Ghana there a bit of batik from Cote  d'Ivoire or like the man Jack pattern from Senegal   for example and last year he made his history by  becoming the first black African designer of being   able to Showcase his collection to the very famous  or closed cycle of hot couture catwalk in Paris   just to give you an idea big names like Givenchy  Lanvin Dior also showcased their outfits and   Imane Ayissi did mention that when he's talking  about those 28 good years he's been applying for   years and every time time he was rejected so I  would say this is definitely a big achievement thank you
